Pattern & self-drafting a pattern: Latex Corset to your own measurements
Make your own latex underbust corset, perfectly fitting!
In this workshop, you will learn how to make a super sturdy latex corset, entirely to your own measurements!
So if you're looking for a real challenge... make this latex underbust corset. And the name says it all 'underbust corset', so without cups. Do you want to make a corset with cups? Then you can combine this pattern with the pattern for the bra.
The corset you are going to make consists of two layers of thick latex and flat steel boning. There are many pattern pieces, so it's quite a job! But in the end, you'll have a very sturdy corset made to your own measurements!
The video is approximately 30 minutes long, but that doesn't mean you can make a latex corset in 30 minutes. Expect 4-8 hours or even longer for your first latex corset.
And... there's no talking in this video, so you can go wild with your own music while you work, yeah!
A basic pattern is available with this workshop (download) to guide you, but... you have to adapt the pattern to your own measurements. You should always make a corset to your own measurements and never buy it in standard sizes like 'M' or 'XL' etc. because only custom-made corsets fit perfectly!

For whom?
- This technical workshop is for anyone who wants to expand their existing latex knowledge. You will learn how to glue thick layers of latex together. And also how to incorporate sturdy boning between the layers.
- Because the corset is made to your own measurements, a lot of calculations are involved! And so there is a lot to calculate, draw, and cut for all the pattern pieces for the corset.
- You will learn how to make a corset to your own measurements (or based on someone else's measurements).
- After the course, you will also be able to draw these types of corset patterns to measure yourself.
- If you want to make a corset with cups and underwires, we recommend that you also check out the latex bra workshop. You can then easily combine these techniques and knowledge into a super sturdy latex corset with cups.
Prior knowledge
- This is not a project for beginners. If you are a beginner, we strongly recommend that you first follow the basic workshop. And only then this workshop for the best results. Because the basic techniques are not explained in this corset workshop.
- This is truly a technical workshop. Because the corset is made to your measurements, a lot of calculations are involved! And you have to draw a lot, and cut all the pattern pieces for the latex corset.
- Also, laminating thick layers of latex with boning in between... is a huge challenge!
- The basic techniques are also extensively described in our latex course book available on Amazon (How to make latex clothing?).
Video
- 1 video of 30 minutes
- There is no spoken audio in the video.
- The video is subtitled in multiple languages, see the table above.
Duration
The video is approximately 30 minutes long, but this is at least a full-day project - perhaps even longer for your first corset. But it's really worth it!
What will you learn?
- You will learn how to draw a pattern for an underbust corset to your own measurements or someone else's measurements, using our basic pattern.
- You will learn how to glue thick layers of latex together with flat steel boning in between.
So, are you ready for an exciting challenge? Then making this latex underbust corset is the perfect project for you!
This corset is made of two layers of thick latex and reinforced with steel boning, making it super sturdy and perfectly shaped. It consists of many pattern pieces so it is really a lot of work. But the hard work will be rewarded!
A latex corset is not something you whip up in an afternoon - you really have to take your time. It all starts with adapting the pattern to your own measurements, which means you have to do some calculations and drawing. Then follows tracing everything onto the latex (and double-checking for errors because there are many pattern pieces!). Then you size the boning, and only then can you start with the latex.
What materials do you need?
Latex:
- ± 80 x 100 cm
Latex thickness:
- 0.80 or 1.00 mm - we recommend 1.00 mm
Haberdashery:
- 10 flat steel bones (total length approx. 170 cm) (so no rings - buy flat steel)
- Tip... buy a roll, not loose bones!
- 1 busk (to your desired size ± 20-25 cm)
- 50 cm twill tape (1 or 1.5 cm wide)
- 22 eyelets + rings
- 5 meters cord
- Teflon tape (for water) or Plastidip for the ends of the boning
Tools:
- Calculator
- Measuring tape
- Eyelet pliers
- Vario pliers
- Flat pliers to break the bones
- Brushes / sponges
- Rotary cutter 45 mm (sharp/new!!)
- Pressure roller
- Ruler
- Marker pen
- Pen
Extra:
- Grinding machine
- For the boning, we recommend a grinding machine to round off the ends. But you can also do it by hand with metal snips and a metal file. But if you want to make more corsets... buy a small grinding machine (approx. ± 45/50 euros available in most hardware stores worldwide) it will save you a lot of time and effort.
