Covering shoes with latex

Always have matching latex shoes for your latex outfit?

You know how it is... you never have the *perfect* shoes to match your latex outfit!

But after this workshop, that won't happen to you again! So, what are you waiting for?

In this video, you'll learn a super simple method to cover/laminate any shoe, boot, or other object with latex, so you always have a perfect match for your latex outfit. You don't need to draw patterns or make complicated calculations.

We assume you have watched the basic videos, as the basic techniques are not explained in this video. As a result, the pace of this video is faster than that of the basic videos.

This video has no voice-over, but it is subtitled and includes background music (which you can, of course, turn off to listen to your own music).

Video

  • 1 - about 22 minutes, but you will spend a few hours on your first pair of shoes.

What will you learn?

  • In this video, you will learn a method to cover/laminate any shoe, boot, or other object with latex, so you always have a perfect match for your latex outfit.
  • You don't need to draw patterns or make complicated calculations.
  • There is also no pattern or instructions to download with this video, because you will make the pattern yourself from your own shoe.

What materials do you need?

Latex:

  • The size of the latex depends on your shoes or boots.

Latex thickness:

  • 0.40 mm or 0.45 mm - if you choose thinner or thicker, it will be difficult.

Other materials:

  • Thin pattern paper or tissue paper (2x the size of the shoe all around).
  • Painter's tape.
  • Duct tape or packing tape.
  • Spray adhesive (we are fans of the Bison and Pattex brands, another brand might also work, but our experience is that in this case, the more expensive, well-known adhesive brands work best).
  • Transparent Bison kit/super glue (another contact adhesive is also fine, as long as it is transparent).

Tools:

  • Rotary cutter
  • Sharp scissors or utility knife.

About the shoes:

  • Preferably sturdy patent leather, so not leather but a sturdy and smooth surface. You cover the shoes with a layer of latex. The smoother the surface, the better the end result.
